Monitoring was undertaken at the expansion of Ballynacarrick Waste Facility, Ballintra, Co. Donegal. The extension area was to the west of the existing site and comprised poor-quality land covered by blanket bog. It measured 200m (east–west) by 180m.
The stratigraphy of the site was uniform, with little variation except in the depth of the peat across the stripped area. No archaeological remains were revealed in the excavation works.
