Three possible pre-bog walls in a boggy area were investigated before the construction of a proposed sewerage scheme.
Trench 1, measuring 3m east–west by 0.45m, investigated a possible pre-bog wall. The wall was one course high and was constructed on top of the peat. It was probably of relatively modern construction.
Trench 2, measuring 4.5m east–west by 1.3m, investigated another possible pre-bog wall. The wall was two courses in high and sat on rock outcrop and peat. It is marked on the OS second-edition map as a field boundary. This wall appears to be of no archaeological significance.
Trench 3, measuring 3m north–south by 0.7m, investigated a possible pre-bog wall. The wall was one course high, sat on natural gravel and was not peat covered. It does not appear to be of archaeological significance.
