As part of a development of new student housing at the Coleraine campus of the University of Ulster, monitoring of topsoil-stripping was undertaken. The site was on the western edge of the campus, overlooking the east bank of the River Bann. An area measuring 220m north–south by 65m was stripped with a mechanical digger fitted with a toothless bucket. The eastern half of the site had been badly disturbed by previous developments at the campus, and, as a result, the ground level had been raised by 1.5m. This build-up of material was removed to reveal the underlying, undisturbed subsoil. The rest of the site, which sloped gently toward the Bann, was also stripped to subsoil. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
