Testing was carried out before alteration, extension and conversion of a 19th-century residential/ commercial premises and the construction of three townhouses to the rear of the property in the centre of Rosscarbery.
Three trenches were excavated, 0.6m wide and a maximum of 1m deep (the maximum depth of foundations and ground disturbance). Stratigraphy in each consisted of c. 0.2m of 19th-/20th-century surfaces and loose fill/dumped material over natural, light grey, gritty, sandy clay that extended to the excavated depth of the trenches.
No archaeological material was recorded.
