An assessment was carried out by Jacinta Kiely of Eachtra in February 2001 as a result of a planning application to construct four dwelling-houses on a site that fell within the zone of archaeological potential of a fulacht fiadh. This fulacht fiadh could not be found, but the levelled remains of a fulacht fiadh were noted c. 8m outside the south boundary of the development site. The assessment recommended further investigation to establish the exact location of the original fulacht fiadh and the full extent of the second.
Three trenches were opened, Trenches 1 and 2 in the areas of the observed and recorded fulachta fiadh. No evidence of either monument was noted in the trenches.
