Pre-development testing was carried out adjacent to a ringfort at Monaparson, Mallow, Co. Cork, as part of a planning application for the construction of a dwelling-house. The site is c. 3.2km to the south of Mallow town, close to the village of Mourneabbey. The house site is within the zone of archaeological potential of a ringfort (SMR 42:37) depicted on the 1935 OS map as ‘Lisnagrave’. The assessment entailed the excavation of five test-trenches; no archaeological features or finds were present in any of them.
