Monitoring of all ground disturbance was undertaken in the area of a single-house site. The development is at the corner of Hume’s Lane and West End, Mallow, at the western edge of the area of the medieval town. The house, lean-to shed and walls enclosing the yard to the rear of the house were demolished. The foundations of the new building were excavated by machine in the area of the demolished house and yard. The upper horizon in the site was a mix of building rubble, limestone and brick. It overlay garden soil in the area of the yard. Yellow/brown clay was recorded at the base of all of the foundation trenches. No archaeological stratigraphy or artefacts were recorded or recovered.
