A test excavation was undertaken in the interior of a 19th-century building at the Glen, Kinsale, Co. Cork, on 23 May 2002. The work was undertaken before renovations, as the site is within the zone of archaeological potential of Kinsale, although it is outside the walls of the historical town.
Two small trenches were excavated, which indicated that the area had been filled either during construction of the building in the 19th century or during general infilling of the area in the 18th or 19th century. No material relating to the town defences was uncovered.
