Test excavations were carried out at the Lower Ground within the campus of University College Cork before the development of a site as an art gallery and restaurant. The development area is near the site of a possible medieval mill, and the aim of the testing was to establish whether any remains of the mill existed on the site. Two trenches were excavated. No archaeological finds or features were uncovered. Monitoring of groundworks for the development was subsequently undertaken. No finds or features of archaeological significance were uncovered.
