The site is on the east side of the medieval North Main Street. A building survey indicated that all upstanding remains were of 19th-century date. A test excavation was carried out before development. The upper level comprised 1m of modern rubble fill, presumably derived from previous building demolition. The development did not intrude on any stratigraphy below 1m. The site was subsequently monitored during the construction phase of the development, when drainage trenches were inserted below the street level. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered.
