Monitoring of groundworks, undertaken over two phases, took place in relation to a new housing estate and associated carpark at Kerry Lane, Churchtown, Mallow, Co. Cork. Clearance of topsoil was undertaken with a track machine with a 2m-wide flat bucket. The topsoil was a light brown, sandy clay with moderate inclusions of small stones. It varied in depth from 0.15m in the north to 0.4m in the south. The natural subsoil was a brown/yellow clay. No archaeological features or artefacts were recorded.
