This site was examined as part of the Bord Gáis Éireann Pipeline to the West project. The site was on level ground at the waterlogged base of a steep-sided scarp, 300m to the north-west.
A discontinuous and thin spread of heat-shattered stone was excavated. Three amorphous areas of stone were recorded, all within 3.5m of each other. The largest stone spread measured 3m by 1.5m. The three spreads had a maximum thickness of 0.01m. The deposits were a dark brown/black limestone with some sandstone. No cut features or artefacts were encountered. Charcoal was extremely rare.
The deposit was suggestive of the material found in fulachta fiadh in the locale, and, indeed, a large burnt mound was excavated c. 275m to the south-west (see No. 190, Excavations 2002 02E1226). Similar dumped fulacht material was excavated c. 75m to the south-west (see No. 189, Excavations 2002, 02E1225).
