A single L-shaped trench was excavated at the rear of Heaney’s Cost-Cutter shop at The Green, Killaloe, on the line of the foundations of a proposed new building. In addition to a modern pit and a 19th-century animal burial, a ditch of likely 17th- or 18th-century date was identified at the extreme eastern edge of the development site. This is believed to be the remains of a property boundary that would have fronted onto The Green.
