This site was exposed during monitoring of topsoil-stripping along the route of a Bord Gáis Éireann Pipeline to the West.
Of the four furrows identified, two were investigated, revealing a total of five contexts. The furrows were oriented north-west/south-east and extended north-west outside the Bord Gáis Éireann wayleave. The fill of the furrows was identical, with both containing unburnt limestone in a clay–sand matrix, indicating that they were excavated simultaneously.
It was not felt necessary to investigate all four furrows because of the uniformity of the cuts and the associated fill. These furrows appear to have been cut by machine rather than excavated by hand and are therefore modern and of no archaeological significance.
