This site was examined as part of Bord Gáis Éireann’s Pipeline to the West. A single shallow scoop was recorded. This feature was oval and measured 0.84m (north-west/south-east) by 0.7m. The sides of the feature sloped very gently down to a flattish base, 0.07m below the stripped ground surface. It is conceivable that the feature was not cut by human agency but was a surface deposit within a natural hollow. The deposit was a grey silty clay with a large proportion of small, angular stones. Some charcoal flecking was evident. No artefactual material was recovered during the excavation, and no indications of in situ burning, such as oxidised natural geology, were observed. It seems unlikely that any meaningful interpretation of this isolated deposit will be possible.
