An assessment was requested before the construction of a new County Library, Heritage Centre and Council Office. A mid-19th-century building on the site had been demolished in the mid-1990s. Five trenches tested the footprint of the proposed building. Nothing was found in three trenches. In the other two, flagstones and wall footings associated with the 19th-century building were exposed. Nothing dating to earlier than the mid-19th century was found.
