In the light of a report of the discovery of human remains under the front doorstep of a bungalow, a small salvage excavation was carried out. The house is situated on a rise overlooking a river, adjacent to an ancient crossing. Analysis of the remains, which consisted of a skull and sacrum, by Laureen Buckley determined that they were of an adult female, aged 21–40, exhibiting cribra orbitalia due to iron-deficiency anaemia. Cause of death not was determined. It appears that the remains were redeposited when the house was being built.
