Monitoring of preliminary ground investigation work preceding the Carlow Town Surface-Water Drainage Scheme on behalf of Carlow County Council was carried out from 19 August to 1 September 2002. The excavation of sixteen slit-trenches was undertaken for the purpose of positioning existing services, all within the zone of archaeological potential. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered.
