Testing adjacent to the ‘Clonegall stone’, a standing stone (SMR 12:86), and an enclosure site (SMR 12:71) was undertaken in fulfilment of a planning condition relating to a single-house development at Ballinaboley, Leighlinbridge. About half of the development area had been quarried without archaeological intervention in c. 1999. Three test-trenches were excavated within the remainder of the site. In all of the trenches topsoil overlay a gravel substratum. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
