Monitored topsoil re-scraping and spoilheap investigation took place intermittently during June and August 2002 at a development site in Straidbilly townland, Liscolman, before the construction of residential properties by Christie Homes Ltd. This area measured c. 72.08m (north–south) by 148.15m (10,197.21m2; c. 68–69m OD) and was bounded to the east by the Cranborne Road and to the south by the rear of the residential properties of Mill View on the Toberdoney Road, Liscolman. The development area itself was situated on low-lying land between the Bush River and the higher land of the north Antrim coast.

Investigation of the spoilheaps resulted in the recovery of one sherd of prehistoric pottery, a heavily damaged portion of a polished porcellanite axehead, five finished flint scrapers and a quantity of roughly struck flints. In the southern and south-western parts of the development site three areas of archaeological potential were identified. These were isolated and are awaiting excavation in 2003, at which time a fuller report will be submitted.
