Testing took place on 9 July 2002 at a site adjacent to the Riada House, offices of Ballymoney Borough Council, Ballymoney, Co. Antrim, before its development as car-parking facilities. The development was on the site of No. 12 Charles Street, the environs of a 19th-century Unitarian meeting house. A single trench was intended as a foundation for measures to make good the adjacent, exposed gable of No. 10 Charles Street. The trench lay along the north-western edge of the development site and measured 9.25m (south-west/north-east) by 0.6m by 0.8m in maximum depth. Only one fill was visible, a compact, sticky, grey-flecked mid-brown to orange clay with a very slight silt component. This material showed no evidence of disturbance or of containing archaeological remains of any kind.
