It is proposed to develop the former Massereene Hospital site at 28 Station Road/Castle Way, Antrim. The proposed development comprises a retail store, a car-parking area, trolley bays and a petrol filling station. An assessment was carried out along the north-eastern area of the site. Nothing of archaeological significance was found in the trenches; however, an area of peatland was uncovered. This raises the possibility of a previously unrecorded wetland site here. Monitoring will continue at the site during groundworks.
