Testing was carried out on the site of a small office extension lying within the zone of archaeological potential for Wicklow town. Two perpendicular trenches were excavated on 13 November 2001. Stratigraphy consisted of two layers of garden soil containing modern and post-medieval pottery overlying natural gravel. A possible ditch was revealed running north–south across the site. This was roughly V-shaped in section and approximately 0.75m deep. The primary fill represented the original siltation, which contained occasional charcoal flecks and animal bones. Sand and gravel comprised the upper fills. No other archaeological finds, features or deposits were uncovered on the site.
