Testing took place in advance of construction of the Newtownmountkennedy to Ballynabarny dual carriageway in September 2001. Several areas of prehistoric activity were discovered. Excavation is currently ongoing under licence numbers 01E1072 (see No. 1367, Excavations 2001) and 02E0019 (to be reported on in Excavations 2002).
