Test excavation was carried out in advance of the construction of a new building to the rear of a street-fronting, late Georgian townhouse on Selskar Street. Test-trenching established that all the layers within the development site were of modern origin. An original garden soil level was uncovered at a depth of 0.65–0.95m and this included modern finds. The infill layers above this may have been related to the construction of the Georgian townhouse and included bricks, stones and mortar. This infill was covered by garden soil. No features or finds of archaeological origin were uncovered during the test excavation.
