Test excavation as part of an assessment was undertaken at the site of a proposed housing development and reed-bed sewage filtration plant during August 2001. Ten test-trenches were excavated throughout the areas to be affected by groundworks in phase 1.
The assessment revealed nothing of archaeological significance despite its proximity to registered monument SMR 48:13, a holy well, and the de-listed possible enclosure site SMR 48:12.
