An assessment of the proposed development site was carried out. There is a church site, SMR 26:33, in the adjoining field to the north-east of the site.
Nine test-pits, each measuring 2m by 2m, were opened. Much of the material excavated from the test-pits was rubble which had been recently backfilled. This material underlay a covering of topsoil.
Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered during the testing project, but further monitoring was recommended.
