Testing was carried out in June 2001 prior to the construction of a two-storey house at Ballinea, Jamestown. The proposed development was near a church and graveyard and a rath. Six test-trenches were mechanically opened. No archaeology was uncovered in any of the trenches. The stratigraphy consisted of sod and topsoil overlying boulder clay.
