Human remains were found during the monitoring by Brian Hodkinson (00E0901) of a housing development on the outskirts of Nenagh. The remains were analysed by osteoarchaeologist Linda Lynch. The topsoil where the human remains were discovered consisted of a sticky silty yellowish clay, c. 0.5m deep, with frequent inclusions of angular and subangular limestones. No grave-cuts were observed during the excavation of the skeletons.

Skeleton 1 (c. 0.5m below ground level) rested directly on top of the natural subsoil, which consisted of a natural grey compact stony gravel. It was an extended supine burial of a male aged between 25 and 40 years. It displayed evidence of a number of pathological lesions, including iron deficiency anaemia, a healed rib fracture and traumatic chipping of a front tooth. The lower legs and feet were removed by the mechanical digger.

The remains of Skeleton 2, an adult male, were very poorly preserved and may have been disturbed in antiquity as no other post-cranial bones were recovered. There was no surface evidence of burials and no known records of burials in this area. The area adjacent to the remains was monitored but no features of interest were noted.
