Pre-construction testing was carried out pursuant to a request for further information by Tipperary N.R. County Council regarding the archaeological implications of the proposed construction of a dwelling-house and ancillary site development works at this location. The site of the proposed development is within an ecclesiastical settlement at Holycross. The enclosing ditch of this ecclesiastical settlement has been identified by aerial photography and is located at the eastern boundary of the development. A series of test-trenches were opened along the foundations of the proposed development with the aid of a mechanical digger.

As no archaeological remains were uncovered in any of the trenches opened, DĂșchas allowed the development to proceed. All further groundworks associated with this development were monitored.
