Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered in the area of the proposed housing development to the north of the Drum Road, which runs parallel to the Boyle River. There are numerous sites in the locality and therefore testing was required as a planning condition.
The site consists of an existing laneway leading north from Drum Road and out into a roughly rectangular area measuring approximately 100m east–west by 75m. The development site is dominated by a round-topped hillock with relatively gentle sloping sides, apart from that to the north where the gradient is markedly steeper. The assessment took the form of three test-trenches, positioned so as to cover the footprints of the proposed houses. The subsoil consisted of bedrock and glacial till, which in turn was overlain by at best some 0.2m of topsoil.
