Pre-development testing took place in advance of a three-house development near the site of a castle/house, known locally as Cushlaun. A 19th-century sawmill was the subject of an earlier impact assessment and building survey by Shirley Markley. Seven test-trenches were excavated to a depth of 0.6–0.95m. Several early modern finds were uncovered although no archaeological features or remains were revealed.
