Esker Bog is a Bord na Móna bog producing milled peat, and was surveyed on behalf of Dúchas as part of the Peatland Survey 2001. It is approximately 3km south-east of Rhode and lies between the Grand Canal and the Daingean–Edenderry road. It is 580ha in total area and is adjacent to another Bord na Móna bog, Cavemount, which lies to the west. A single deposit of worked wood was recorded along the north-western side of the bog. This consists of a single piece of brushwood and a split timber set c. 0.3m apart in a drain face.
