Testing was undertaken at a single dwelling development site at Ballyburley, Rhode, Co. Offaly, on 30 July 2001. The site is to the immediate south of a late medieval church site with associated graveyard and to the south-east of the site of Ballyburley House, a 17th/18th-century dwelling which was destroyed by fire in 1888 and which was constructed on the site of an earlier castle (SMR 4:12).

Eight trenches were excavated. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered.
