Testing was undertaken at Laragh townland, Donaghmoyne, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, on 20 January 2001 to determine the impact of the proposed development of a dwelling-house on any surviving archaeological remains that may be present on the site.
One trial-trench was opened by mechanical digger. It measured 20m (east/west) by 2m. The stratigraphy consisted of mid-brown topsoil that lay immediately above a yellow natural deposit. No archaeological features, either structural or artefactual, were uncovered.
