An assessment was carried out on a proposed residential development site on Cara Street, Clones. The development involves the demolition of vacant dwelling-houses and the construction of a three-storey dwelling-house. The site is close to the round tower, Crossmoyle ecclesiastical remains and the motte and bailey.
Two test-trenches were excavated within the proposed development site. No finds were retrieved and no features of archaeological significance were exposed. Any archaeology that may formerly have been present here would have been destroyed when the existing houses were constructed as they were excavated into the slope of the hill.
