The site was exposed between chainages 18700 and 18600, in the centre of the motorway in the townland of Shallon, during monitoring of topsoil-stripping carried out during groundworks associated with the construction of Contract 7 of the Northern Motorway Project.

No archaeological features or deposits were exposed or identified and no finds were recovered. The only feature exposed on site was an irregular curvilinear deposit of natural decayed sandstone measuring c. 1.2m in length, 0.08m in width and 0.06m in depth. This feature was clearly natural in origin and was not associated with the sites exposed at Shallon 1 or 3 (Excavations 2001, Nos 1052/1054).

No archaeological features or deposits were exposed and no finds were recovered.
