This large site lies close to the medieval settlement of Scurlockstown, which contains a motte (SMR 37:9) and medieval church (37:10). The site of a demolished tower-house (37:11) occupies the north-west corner of the site. Eleven trenches were mechanically excavated on the site between 18 and 20 December 2001.
Mid-17th-century buildings and a possible kiln were revealed in the westernmost trenches (nos 1–3) south of the demolished tower-house. Probable medieval gullies were also revealed in Trenches 3 and 6 at the centre of the north side of the site. Nothing of archaeological interest was encountered in the other trenches.
