The site was exposed in the townland of Lisdornan between the Lisdornan Road and the Dardistown Road at chainage 14855, during monitoring of topsoil-stripping carried out during groundworks associated with the construction of Contract 7 of the Northern Motorway Road Project (01E0090).

A large irregular spread of rubbish material had been deposited onto or cut into the natural and consisted of an extensive area of brown silty clay containing moderate amounts of subangular stone and fragments of blue and black plastic wrapping. This extended beyond the limit of excavation to the east and west. A spread of similar material was exposed to the north and consisted of a mid-brown gravelly clay containing occasional pieces of pebble-sized angular and decayed stone within an oval area measuring 0.25m in length, 0.2m in width and 20mm in thickness. This feature was not archaeological in nature and was clearly associated with the adjacent rubbish deposit.

No archaeological features or deposits were exposed. All the exposed features were modern and were clearly part of a larger dumping site used by the adjacent farm. The local farmer informed us that the area was known locally as ‘Tully’s dump’ and that he has used it for many years. Fragments of old plastic wrapping for use in hay baling were visible within the brown silty clay, which was clearly modern in origin. The oval feature was not archaeological in nature, and was clearly part of the modern brown silty clay deposit.
