Excavation of the site took place between 29 June and 4 July 2001 within a 15m by 15m grid. The site initially appeared as a group of four dark stains cut into the natural brown sandy subsoil. In total nineteen features were identified at the pre-excavation stage, mainly consisting of multiple linear parallel features and a subcircular feature which appeared to be a pit. Investigation proved each of these features to be primarily the result of modern cultivation or root action and not archaeologically significant. Following consultation with DĂșchas, no further archaeological conditions or mitigation were recommended for the site.
