Monitoring was undertaken in February 2001 at the townlands of Claggan and Raheen Barr, which lie to the north-west of Castlebar, Co. Mayo. The development of a wind turbine farm necessitated the excavation of access roads and foundations for the turbines. The site consists of a blanket bog on top of a large hill. During this phase of development, Phase 1, two access roads and eight turbine foundations were excavated. Monitoring showed no indications of any archaeological activity in this area.
