Testing in advance of pipe-routeing within the protected area of an enclosure took place in September and October 2001. This work was part of the Lough Mask Regional Water Supply Scheme Stage III (see No. 918, Excavations 2001, 01E0314). No obvious visible remains of the monument survived. Local information suggests that it was levelled during land improvements twenty years ago.
The area tested was a narrow strip of land, 5m by 130m. Three trenches, 2m by 5m and at 10m intervals, were centred opposite the recorded location of the enclosure and tested by hand. Each trench was sterile; no finds were recovered. The remainder of the test area was stripped mechanically, revealing nothing of archaeological significance. However, it was noted that topsoil and subsoil were mixed with lenses of redeposited boulder clay.
