Four test-trenches were opened in a field to the east of a cashel and souterrain. Stratigraphy in all trenches was generally similar, with fine brown clay overlying a more stony brown clay. Beneath this the boulder clay consisted of a gravel/orange daub mix. Numerous sherds of modern pottery and glass were recovered, along with three broken decorated clay pipes.
