Six test-trenches were opened in advance of this proposed house and associated services, which were at least 70m from an ecclesiastical enclosure, at Ballintemple, Swinford. All contexts were fairly uniform and provided no evidence that the development would disturb any archaeology. General findings revealed a rich fertile topsoil over either yellow sandy daub or a white/grey marl, as found at the base of a lake. All artefacts were modern and included glass and a decorated clay pipe fragment.
