This site (99DBSE0031a–b) was excavated as part of the 2001 Bord na Móna Archaeological Mitigation Project. It was 30m south along the field surface between the plank trackway sightings 99DBSE0007K and 99DBSE0007L, and was almost fully exposed on the field surface.
A single 2m by 2m cutting was excavated at the best-preserved portion of the site. The site was composed of 22 roundwoods and brushwoods, longitudinally placed and tightly packed in an east–west alignment. The width of the site was 1.8m on average and its overall length was 18m. The majority of the elements were unworked roundwood or brushwood rods, except for two half-split roundwoods which had been placed flat side upwards. There was a single transverse and two pegs in the northern part of the site. The elements ranged in diameter from 0.03m to 0.16m. All of the wood was broken in several pieces and was very dried out. The tool-marked ends were either pencil or chisel points that appear to have been made with metal tools.
