Monitoring was conducted during topsoil-stripping in advance of the construction of a fast-food outlet. The sod and topsoil extended to an average depth of 0.4m and overlay the orange clay/sandy subsoil.
A dark brown peaty layer was exposed under the sod within the north-western corner of the site. This deposit extended to an average depth of 0.7m and overlay the mottled cream boulder clay. No archaeological deposits or features were exposed.
