This field (field 22) was investigated as part of pre-development testing in advance of the Limerick Southern Ring-Road Project. Forty-two trenches were stripped by machine, nine of which contained archaeological deposits. The archaeology consisted of five isolated deposits and one ring-ditch complex. One of the isolated deposits consisted of a cremation pit/burial, 0.35m in diameter, and contained cremated bone. The complex consisted of a curvilinear feature (8m in diameter) enclosing a roughly circular stone-filled pit. Possible post-holes were found to the south-east of the curvilinear feature. These features were excavated under an extension to the licence (see No. 796, Excavations 2001).
