During paving works for Limerick Corporation a well was uncovered under the front wall of 9 Church Street. The well was drystone-built, with a diameter of c. 0.9m and a depth to water of 3m measured from the upper ring of stones. This upper ring is c. 0.8m below finished paving level. There seems to have been some reduction in level around the well prior to its being capped, because all deposits over it seemed to be disturbed. The well does not appear on any maps and is believed to be older than 1840. The only finds were some fragments of red brick in the capping material and these were not retained.
