This field (field 17) was investigated as part of pre-development testing in advance of the Limerick Southern Ring-Road Project. Thirty-two 10m by 10m trenches were stripped by machine, seven of which contained archaeological deposits. The archaeology consisted of possible post-holes and charcoal-filled pits, including one burnt clay circular deposit. The exposed features were subsequently excavated under an extension to the original licence (see No. 806 Excavations 2001).
