Test-trench excavations were carried out in three fields along the route of the Limerick Southern Ring-Road in the area between the Kilmallock road and the Tipperary road. These fields were chosen for investigation following the discovery of a number of small scatters of flint during field-walking of the ploughed route of the road. There were no diagnostic flints present but a number may have been débitage material. A total of 76 trenches, each measuring 10m by 10m, were opened across the three fields. No archaeological features or finds were encountered in any of these trenches.
